have you ever seen the bicycle thief; the italian film? in the movie, the main character needs a bicycle. without the bicycle the character is helpless. and, of course, the man's bicycle is stolen from him. and everywhere you look, there are bicycles. bicycles along the street, in the stores, on the road. but the main character does not have one. and as a result, the character has no job, no income, no respect. he's driven to theft and in turn loses his dignity.
